FORTE Music Teacher Grants
We are currently accepting funds to expand the FORTE Music Teacher Grant Program. These grants will be presented to music teachers throughout the Asheville City Schools district to increase excellence in music education. Established by community member Althea Gonzalez. Any contribution to the Foundation supports meaningful programs for children.
These kinds of programs do not exist without your support. Make a secure online contribution today.
Forte Music Teacher Grants:
- Build the long-term capacity for excellent teaching in the Asheville City Schools music program through teacher training or study, professional artists’ residencies, performances or visits,
- Support high student achievement in the Asheville City Schools music program through exposure to professional musicians, performances, visits, or other learning opportunities,
- Develop partnerships and collaborations among the schools and community-based agencies,
- Respond to a pressing need in the ACS music program,
- Impact a large number of students within a year (through a performance, residency or training) or many students over time (through the purchase of durable goods), and
- Develop innovative strategies for expanding the opportunities for underserved students to participate in the music curriculum.
Additional Considerations
-
Large projects benefit from collaboration. Proposals that include collaboration among schools, within schools or community agencies naturally increase the resources available to students and will be given priority.
-
Multiple funders ensure greater buy-in and increase the chances for success. Projects that bring the committed support of school district or parent leaders with matching funding, will be given priority.
-
All projects must have demonstrable results and a clear plan for evaluation.
Application Procedure: Grants should be emailed to Kate Pett at Kate@acsf.org by 5 PM on January 20, 2012 and a hard copy with original signatures should arrive within three business days. Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis and a limited number of grants will be made. All Grant Requirements must be meet. See requirements on page 2. All grant applications must be signed by a principal or system executive director indicating that he/she approves of the project and is committed to the success of the project.
