Volunteer Outreach and Training Program:

Based upon a needs assessment of Asheville City Schools volunteer needs completed in 2010, we are broadening the scope of our Volunteer Outreach and Training Program. There are a wide-variety of meaningful roles for volunteers to fulfill within our schools, and our goal is to help each school build their capacity to recruit and retain these important volunteers. Our Volunteer Outreach and Training Program Director provides training and support to school volunteer coordinators to ensure best practices of volunteer management across the ACS district.

Community outreach is an important aspect of this program; please contact Jay Lively, Program Director, if you want us to speak to your organization about volunteer opportunities and other ways that you can positively impact our students and schools. We believe strong community involvement makes stronger schools.
We also believe in providing our volunteers with the resources they need to be effective. Thus, in addition to the initial volunteer orientation, we offer a wide variety of youth-focused professional development for volunteers throughout the year.
