ACSF Grants and Scholarships
One of our strategies to accomplish our mission is to support excellent teachers and teaching.
One way we do this is by investing in our schools and teachers through granting funds for classroom innovations ($500-$2,500), or needed materials ($100-$500).
The Asheville City Schools Foundation works hard to marshal resources so that we can allocate grants to support classroom projects that are innovative ways to engage students. Each year we provide over $60,000 directly to teachers and schools in these core areas:
Arts integration, energy education & conservation, closing the achievement gap, behavioral supports, and math literacy.
In 2010 we launched a new program in partnership with UNCA and LEAF in Schools and Streets to bring 60 days of artist residencies to our schools. The program is called Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools (TAPAS). TAPAS grants are awarded on a rotating bases.

Another way that we support excellent teaching is by investing in our teachers through professional development and leadership opportunities.
The Asheville City Schools Foundation Fellows program allows teachers who are 5 to 15 years into their careers to emerge as or develop into leaders in their school community. Foundation Fellows are awarded funds to pursue professional development in a area that they have identified is needed to address achievement disparities in their school. Foundation Fellows apply their learning, work as action researchers to document their findings and share these with other Fellows and the ACS Leadership Team. Currently there are 17 Foundation Fellows across the Asheville City Schools District.

Investing in our students by providing scholarships for college
In order to support the academic promise of our students the Asheville City Schools Foundation administrates over 20 scholarship funds that total over $120,000 of scholarships and awards each year. Any student graduating from an Asheville City Secondary School is eligible to apply. Please see our common scholarship application below.
If you are interested in establishing a scholarship please contact the Asheville City Schools Foundation office to set up a time to meet with our Executive Directors.
